My Brother Battles Cancer Too

My brother Fredrick is in the hospital recuperating from cancer treatment.  He was diagnosed a few months ago. Crazy when you think that none of my 80 plus immediate family members has dealt with this before. I know we have been blessed with good health, but it was very hard to tell my mama that another of her children is sick. That I  have cancer too.

Fredrick went to MD Anderson in September to have a five inch tumor removed along with one kidney. I visited him there. He was concerned about me and my trip, apologized to the nurses for getting sick, etc. What an awesome gentleman. God’s grace is written all over his face.

They gave Fredrick a 35% chance of the cancer coming back in three months, so his sweet wife Jeri, a nurse, researched other treatments. They ended up in Reno, Nevada, with Dr. Forsythe for 3 weeks of low dosage chemo and naturopathic treatments. Fredrick was terribly nauseated and lost some hair, but  the cancer seems gone, and he just needs to regain his strength.

Fredrick and his wife came back to Oklahoma a few weeks ago. They live on a farm between Shawnee and Tecumseh with four of their five children. He’s lost 30 pounds since this started. Last Friday, he was hospitalized and had a blood transfusion because of anemia. They are doing tests to determine the cause – possibly an ulcer.

So this challenging journey is not just mine alone, but my family’s.

Anyway, there you have it. Our family needs your prayers. Desperately.  Through all this, your concern is overwhelming and touching. And your prayer and support has been like a solid Rock of Gibraltar, strong, unmoving and supportive. It makes a huge difference. Thank you so much.

Psalm 31:24. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.

 You are loved,

Kathryn
